“Lead Me On” by Amy Grant from 1988. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ . This album was released a year after I got married and was amongst a few albums of hers we played a lot back in those years. At this time she was still regarded as a Christian artist with little mainstream exposure outside the US but that would change with her next release. “A Song For You” by The Carpenters from 1972. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ . For me this is one of their better albums. Some great tracks on here including “Goodbye to Love” featuring another unexpected fuzz guitar solo which prevented it from getting airplay on some easy listening radio stations! This is the last of my Carpenters vinyl to be posted on IG. “Now and Then” by The Carpenters from 1973. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ . This is an interesting album. It features a few tracks that were big hits as singles including “Yesterday Once More” which is another of my favourite songs! The rest of the second side is then a medley of “oldies” from the 50s and 60s interspersed with some crazy DJ doing spoken links. “Made in America” by The Carpenters from 1981. ⭐️⭐️ . This was the last studio album released during Karen’s lifetime. Both her and Richard say they like it but for me it doesn’t have as many memorable highlights as earlier work. “Horizon” by The Carpenters from 1975. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ . Another from my Carpenters vinyl collection. I’m a huge rock and metal fan but I do love a good tune that is well sung and Karen Carpenter had the most amazingly pure, pitch perfect voice. They did a lot of cover versions and worked with many other songwriters but every one of their albums has two or three absolute gems on it. “Only yesterday” is the best known and stand out track on this album. “Passage” by The Carpenters from 1977. ⭐️⭐️ . More 70s vinyl for me this morning. I like a lot of The Carpenters albums from the 70s but this is not one of the strongest. That said, I could listen to Karen sing all day so I’ve no complaints! This is worth a listen simply for the wonderful “All you get from love is a love song” and the unexpected guitar solo on the otherwise bizarre “Calling occupants ...”, which was a strangely chosen cover of a Klaatu song! (Now that’s a band worth a listen if you like 70s psychedelia. Shedding a new light …

Our new light fittings are on a dimmer. Amazing how small turns of the dial can radically change the ambience of the room.
